Roma's hunt for a winger: why Garnacho fits Gasperini's plan

🇬🇧

AS Roma are seeking to plug a creative void in their attack ahead of the new season, prompting an exploratory inquiry into Chelsea’s Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho, 2004-born talent identified by manager Gian Piero Gasperini as a potential loan target.

Alfredo Pedullà disclosed that Roma have already sent a request for information to Chelsea regarding Garnacho’s availability. The club is assessing whether a loan deal could be feasible. If the feasibility study is positive, negotiations may commence within the coming weeks.

Garnacho, born in 2004, is praised for his pace and one‑on‑one skill. His playing style matches the profile Roma seek to invigorate their attacking lanes. Gasperini believes the Argentine winger could add the desired dynamism to the side.

At present, no formal talks have been opened between the clubs. The inquiry remains an information‑gathering exercise. Roma’s management stresses that any move will only proceed after the feasibility assessment.

The Giallorossi continue to scout a range of prospects as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. Their objective is to equip Gasperini with quality options to compete in Serie A and to re‑enter the Champions League. Should the Garnacho loan materialise, it would represent a key piece in that strategic plan.
