The summer window could see the 26‑year‑old become a sought‑after transfer target.

Scherpen finished a strong season with Union Saint‑Gilloise in België, emerging as one of the team’s key pillars. De Dutch keeper kept sixteen clean sheets, helped the side win the Belgian cup and impressed in Europees competition. According to club reports, his contract runs until mid‑2028, limiting any forced move.

Interest in the Nederlander does not come from the lucht; clubs from Engeland, Duitsland and Italië have been linked to the 26‑year‑old. The Duitse SC Freiburg was named among possible destinations, while several Engelse sides have also monitored his progress.

Last summer Union reportedly paid roughly two million euros to Brighton & Hove Albion for Scherpen. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value stands at about seven million euros. Whether Ipswich will submit a bid remains unclear.
