Dutch goalkeeper Diant Ramaj seeks move away from Borussia Dortmund amid transfer talks

Diant Ramaj, the 24‑year‑old Dutch international, is actively discussing a summer transfer with several clubs as he aims to secure a regular first‑team spot away from Borussia Dortmund. The goalkeeper, who joined the German side in February 2025 for a reported €5 million, was initially earmarked as a future No. 1 but now finds his pathway blocked.

Coach Niko Kovač has already identified Alexander Meyer and Patrick Drewes as his preferred options for the upcoming season, relegating Ramaj to the periphery of the squad. With limited playing opportunities at BVB, the Dutchman is looking to revive his career elsewhere.

Ramaj made his intentions clear, stating: “I want to be the first choice, not a reserve goalkeeper,” and added that he is “in talks with new clubs to ensure I get regular minutes.” His public comments underline a firm desire to leave Dortmund if a suitable offer materialises.

The keeper’s contract runs until mid‑2029, meaning any interested party would need to meet a substantial fee. Transfermarkt currently values Ramaj at €7 million, reflecting his experience in top leagues.

Ramaj’s résumé includes 33 appearances on loan at FC Heidenheim, 19 matches for FC Copenhagen, and 32 starts for Ajax, where he kept five clean sheets and conceded 51 goals. These performances suggest he is ready for a permanent starting role.

Dortmund’s sporting director confirmed that “there have been no offers so far,” indicating that negotiations are still in their early stages as the summer window draws to a close.

With the transfer deadline looming, Ramaj’s future remains uncertain, but his determination to secure a starting berth makes a departure from Borussia Dortmund increasingly likely should a suitable bid emerge.
