Newcastle's first Jaissle signing could reshape the post‑Howe rebuild

The empty stands of St James' Park echo with anticipation as Newcastle United prepare to hand Matthias Jaissle his first out‑field acquisition. Jaissle, poised to replace Eddie Howe after the latter’s resignation last week, is set to sign a player he has long admired while fans reel from the loss of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali for huge fees.

We Don’t Talk About Bruno, yet the captaincy of Bruno Guimaraes remains a hot topic, with Newcastle have turned down Arsenal’s first offer for the midfielder.

Newcastle are now desperate for fresh recruits not only to plug the gaps left by those departures but also to give Jaissle the best possible start once his own move from Al‑Ahli is completed.

The Algerian international, a regular on the right wing for the Dutch giants since his 2022 switch from Belgian side Petro Eisden, was previously rebuffed when Jaissle tried to bring him to Al‑Ahli.

Dutch journalist Dennis Kranenburg claims Newcastle view Moussa as a direct replacement for Anthony Gordon, while clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked to the 24‑year‑old.

Moussa’s recent output for Feyenoord totals 25 goals and 12 assists from 83 appearances, and he impressed with a star turn against Manchester City in the 2024/25 Champions League.

He featured for Algeria at this summer’s World Cup, starting the opening match against Argentina before being relegated to the bench for the remainder of the tournament.
