\n\nServais, 20, had established himself as a key player for KV Mechelen in the Jupiler Pro League during the 2023/24 campaign. He made 31 league appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
\n\nMillwall confirmed the permanent transfer on Monday, with Servais signing a five-year contract. The deal includes an initial fee reported locally as €2.5 million, with potential add-ons.
\n\nKV Mechelen sporting director Hans Vander Elst confirmed the club had received an “attractive” offer it could not refuse. “We are disappointed to lose a player of Mathis’s quality but understand the opportunity he has been given,” Vander Elst said.
\n\nServais’s departure marks the end of a short but impactful spell in Belgium. He joined Mechelen from Standard Liège in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a fan favourite for his energy and creativity in midfield.
\n\nMillwall manager Liam Manning described Servais as a “technically gifted midfielder with a strong work ethic.” Manning added: “He fits perfectly with our style and will be an important addition to the squad.”
\n\nThe move represents Millwall’s second major signing of the transfer window, following the arrival of experienced defender Tjaronn Chery from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles.",
