Müller’s shootout and Crepeau’s goalie win at MLS All‑Star Skills

Canadian fans have cause to celebrate as Maxime Crepeau of Orlando City and Vancouver Whitecaps forward Thomas Müller each secured victories at the MLS All‑Star Skills Challenge in Charlotte on Tuesday, underscoring the depth of Canadian talent on display.

Müller entered the Shooting Challenge and posted 79 points, eclipsing the previous record of 72 set by Evander of FC Cincinnati. Evander had briefly tied Müller before the Whitecaps' German international clinched the win.

In the Goalie Wars, Crepeau emerged triumphant, defeating Houston Dynamo keeper Pedro Cruz in the final after out‑performing New York City FC’s Matt Freese in the semifinal.

Other event winners included U.S. captain Tim Ream of Charlotte FC, who captured the Passing Challenge, and Javier Ruiz of Club Necaxa, who took the Crossbar Challenge.

The MLS All‑Stars roster features Canadian defender Richie Laryea of Toronto FC and Whitecaps midfielders Andrés Cubas and Sebastian Berhalter, the latter having transferred to English Championship side Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

The All‑Stars will meet a Liga MX representative in the MLS All‑Star Game in Charlotte on Wednesday, extending the weekend’s festivities.

Regular‑season action resumes on Friday when New York City FC hosts Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium.
