Mercato uncertainty: Olympiakos eyes Salah-Eddine amid Roma talks
Anass Salah-Eddine, the 24‑year‑old Moroccan international, is poised to join Olympiakos Le Pirée after the Greek side reached an agreement with AS Roma, yet it remains unclear whether the player himself wishes to pursue the move in the upcoming transfer window.
Salah-Eddine spent last season at PSV Eindhoven. PSV saw potential for a longer‑term partnership after a successful loan spell. The Dutch club had envisioned continued collaboration.
Reports suggested the left‑back wanted to seize his chance at Roma. That ambition was cited as a reason for the current negotiations.
Olympiakos coach Gian Piero Gasperini has already indicated a preference for other wing options. He mentioned the very fast Givairo Read, a Feyenoord player, as a priority target for his full‑back requirements.
Olympiakos believed it had secured a multi‑million‑euro deal for the Ajax‑trained left‑back and granted him permission to leave. However, the destination does not align with Salah-Eddine’s own wishes.
Real Betis has also been linked as a potential suitor, though the deal is far from finalised. PSV remains open to interest from Olympiakos, even as the Greek champions explore other options, while PSV’s own offer to Filip Kostic is still awaiting a response.
