Maduro crowns Daley Blind As Ajax’s new Jordan Henderson

Former Ajax midfielder Hedwiges Maduro says Daley Blind is the most important Ajax signing of the summer, describing him as "the new Jordan Henderson" in Amsterdam. Maduro made the comment in an interview with Sportnieuws.nl earlier today.

Blind returned to Amsterdam before Ajax’s first training matches, having left Girona on a free transfer. His swift recall was followed by the arrival of former player Jordi Cruijff, who also joined the experienced defender.

In the initial training sessions Blind impressed the coaching staff, earning a starting place in the side of his former coach Míchel. The rapid integration has generated enthusiasm throughout the Ajax camp.

Maduro praised Blind’s impact, noting that his coaching and passing improve teammates such as Davy Klaassen and Steven Berghuis. He added that Blind fills a role that Ajax missed after his earlier departure from the capital.

“He can take on the role of Jordan Henderson, which Ajax lacked last season,” Maduro said, emphasizing the midfielder’s leadership qualities.

Maduro also highlighted the presence of young defender Youri Baas, calling him the future of Ajax, while questioning how much playing time the veteran Blind will receive alongside the emerging talent.
