Liverpool sign generational player Dara Jikiemi
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are signing Dara Jikiemi, a generational prospect, from Celtic. This transfer window hasn't gone as planned for Liverpool fans, with the pursuit of Yan Diomande hitting a stumbling block. Diomande was leaning towards Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Liverpool to look elsewhere.
Liverpool were interested in Diomande due to his potential to develop into a special player, with attributes to replace Mohamed Salah in the future. However, finding a right-winger with pace, goals, creativity, and potential is incredibly hard.
The Reds have been planning for the future, and Jikiemi fits that approach perfectly. The 16-year-old has captained Scotland's national team at U15 and U16 levels and has impressive defensive duel and aerial duel statistics.
Liverpool's defence has been in a bad shape, with experienced players like Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson leaving. However, the recruitment team has earned trust over the years, and the signing of Jikiemi, along with Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye, represents an exciting future at Anfield.
Jikiemi's composure on the ball and ability to read the game make him an exciting player. The last former Celtic centre-back signed by Liverpool ended up pretty well for the Reds, and fans will be hoping Jikiemi follows in those footsteps.
