Ligue 1 to pay tribute to Éric Roy

Éric Roy passed away on June 17 at the age of 58, due to pancreatic cancer. The Stade Brestois, the club he managed since 2023, will pay tribute to him on Sunday, September 13 at 20:45, at the Francis-Le Blé stadium. The Breton club chose this date, which corresponds to the reception of Paris Saint-Germain, on the occasion of the fourth day of Ligue 1.

The Stade Brestois 29 wishes that this tribute is worthy of the mark Éric Roy left on the club's history and the attachment his family, loved ones, club members, and the people of Brest have for him.

Initially, the club's leaders had considered paying tribute to him on the first day of the championship. On August 29, they will host Toulouse.

Éric Roy can be considered the best coach in the history of Stade Brestois, having achieved the club's best ranking in history, finishing third. After qualifying the team for the Champions League, he even managed to get them out of the league phase, only being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the playoffs.

Julien Lachuer, his former assistant, now coaches the team based in Finistère. Integrated into the staff at the time of his sports retirement in 2010, this 49-year-old man has climbed all the ranks to become the head coach.
