Barcelona signs 16-year-old Ajay Tavares from Norwich

FC Barcelona confirmed in February the signing of 16-year-old Ajay Tavares from Norwich City. The English youth international joins the club’s La Masia academy.

Tavares settled at La Masia, where he resides, and made his first appearances with the Juvenil A side. He featured in four matches before his injury.

In his fourth game, Tavares suffered a fractured wrist after an accidental collision. The injury sidelined him for several weeks.

He returned last weekend to feature in the Catalonia Cup semifinal with the Juvenil B team. Tavares opened his Barcelona account with his first goal.

The youngster now aims to build on his comeback as he progresses through Barcelona’s youth ranks. The club expects him to be a key prospect for future campaigns.
