Ivory Coast faces new direction after Emerse Fae's exit

Emerse Fae has left his role as head coach of the Ivory Coast national team after his contract expired and was not renewed, the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) confirmed on Friday.The 42-year-old coach departs having guided the Elephants to recent triumphs.

He assumed the interim position in January 2024 following the dismissal of Jean-Louis Gasset, stepping in as the federation searched for stability.The interim appointment gave the 42-year-old a platform to prove his credentials.

In May 2024 the federation appointed Fae permanently after he led the Elephants to a memorable Africa Cup of Nations triumph on home soil.The permanent deal reflected confidence in his ability to deliver success.

Fae's crowning achievement came in February 2024 when the Elephants won the tournament, defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the final.The victory secured the Africa Cup of Nations title on home ground.
