On Tuesday 28 July the Dutch club rejected the fifth proposal from Braga, a bid of €6.5 million, reported by De .

The fifth bid was turned down after the Portugese club, the Portugezen, had knocked on the Friezen's door several times, each earlier approach also rejected, showing Braga's persistence.

The Friezen remain unconvinced by the current amount; sources close to the Portugese club say Heerenveen still demands more than €6.5 million.

Linday's contract runs until mid‑2029 and Transfermarkt lists his market value at €5 million, prompting Heerenveen to hope for a considerably higher fee.

Linday arrived in the winter transfer window of 2025 from Swedish side Västerås SK for just under €2 million; he has since made 54 official appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists for the Dutch side.

Technical manager Johan Hansma said, “We have spoken with his agent and Marcus and said we would like to keep him for another year unless a sum appears that we cannot refuse, which at the moment is not the case.”
