Four-year deal ends: Why Stoke cut ties with Nikola Jojic
A four-year contract signed in 2023 has been terminated by mutual consent as forward Nikola Jojic leaves Stoke City. The 22‑year‑old Serbian striker, who made only one Championship appearance for the Potters in a 2‑0 defeat to Preston in September 2023, departs after a brief spell in the 2023‑24 season.
Jojic's only league outing came as a substitute in a 2‑0 Championship defeat by Preston in September 2023. That appearance remains his sole contribution in the English second tier for the Potters.
Last season, Jojic spent time on loan at Slovenian club NK Radomlje, gaining regular minutes away from the bet365 Stadium. The Slovenian stint was his most active spell since joining Stoke.
He has also featured for Mladost Lucani in Serbia and HNK Gorica in Croatia, adding experience in both Serbian and Croatian leagues. These spells highlight his career across Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.
In the Carabao Cup, Jojic made a substitute appearance in a 6‑1 win over Rotherham at the bet365 Stadium in 2023. That cup cameo is the only other senior appearance he recorded for Stoke City.
His departure leaves Jojic free to pursue playing time elsewhere, while Stoke City can re‑allocate a squad slot and wage budget ahead of the new campaign. Both parties part ways after a brief, largely unused spell.
