Forest's coaching shake‑up: Pereira departs, Glasner poised to replace

🇬🇧

Nottingham Forest confirmed on Thursday that coach Vitor Pereira has left the club after the board exercised a break clause in his contract. Pereira had issued a statement on Wednesday expressing disappointment and describing the decision as a complete surprise.

“I truly believed in what we were building together, and I leave with a sense of pride in everything we achieved over the past months,” Pereira said. He added that the abrupt termination left him saddened.

Forest has not yet announced a replacement, but British media reports indicate Oliver Glasner is in line to take the job. Glasner departed Crystal Palace this summer after guiding the London club to a Conference League title a year after winning the FA Cup for the first time in its history.

Pereira arrived in February as Forest’s fourth manager of the season. He succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche in the rapid turnover.

The Portuguese coach had steered Forest to the Europa League semi‑finals last season. He also oversaw a 16th‑place finish in the 20‑team Premier League.

Pereira was seen reacting during the Premier League match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool in Nottingham on Sunday, 22 February 2026. The image captured his animated response as the game unfolded.

The club now faces the task of appointing a new manager as the Premier League campaign continues. The reported interest in Glasner suggests a swift transition could be on the horizon.
