Feyenoord could recoup millions from Wellenreuther sale

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Timon Wellenreuther' could bring several million euros to Feyenoord, according to the Algemeen Dagblad. The German goalkeeper is expected to offset a large portion of the transfer sum paid for Tjark Ernst.

The Algemeen Dagblad predicts that the Dutch side may "catch" a multi‑million amount from the deal. It notes that the Duitse doelman can make a substantial contribution toward the Ernst fee.

De transfer fee for Tjark Ernst was reported at just over five million euros, a figure that the club hopes Wellenreuther will help balance. The German keeper’s departure was signalled by Ernst’s arrival.

Earlier on Tuesday, news broke that Feyenoord had completed the signing of Ernst, the Hertha BSC keeper, who will become the first man under the lat in Rotterdam. The move prompted Wellenreuther to submit a departure request, unwilling to spend another year on the Feyenoord-bank.

This week VfL Wolfsburg entered the picture, indicating willingness to buy out Wellenreuther’s contract running to mid‑2027. The exact amount remains undisclosed, but the AD suggests Feyenoord could receive "a part or the whole amount" paid for Ernst through the sale.

If Wolfsburg’s offer materialises, the financial contrast between Ernst’s outlay and a potential inflow from Wellenreuther could reshape Feyenoord’s budget planning for the coming seasons.
