Eighteen‑million price tag stalls Geertruida move to PSV

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Eighteen million euros is the price RB Leipzig is demanding for Lutsharel Geertruida, a transfer that PSV have chased since the WK, with the Eindhoven club preferring a loan but now forced to consider a permanent deal. The fee reflects Leipzig’s valuation of the Dutch winger and complicates negotiations.

PSV have been working on the Geertruida move ever since the World Cup, seeking a temporary arrangement that would allow the player to join the Eindhovenaren. RB Leipzig, however, insists on a permanent transfer and has set the asking price at eighteen million euros. PSV’ strategy now hinges on whether the club can meet that demand.

The SN Betrouwbaarheidsmeter relays a Tuesday‑morning report from Het Eindhovens Dagblad, which writes: “According to the information of this weekend it looks like a long‑term matter. The situation was not considered hopeless by sources around the club and player. But a large financial effort from all parties is clearly needed.” De club has an oral agreement with Geertruida, who wants to come to Eindhoven, and must now push Leipzig to release him definitively.

Sjoerd Keizer of notes that Feyenoord are also watching the case, saying they sit on the fence and would prefer to loan the player before committing to a purchase. He adds that if a current player departs, Feyenoord could secure Geertruida as a replacement by buying him outright.

Tim Reedijk argues that the negotiations will become a game of patience, observing that Leipzig is not in a hurry and shows little interest in loaning the winger. He doubts a quick resolution, suggesting the process will extend over weeks.

Reedijk also speculates that Geertruida would most like to join Feyenoord, provided the club can afford the fee, and that PSV might take the risk to facilitate the move. He further envisions the player possibly resurfacing in the Premier League after a solid season with Sunderland last year.

On Saturday evening Geertruida posted an Instagram story about Rotterdam‑Zuid, confirming his presence in the city, but the article notes that a reunion with his former club remains a distant prospect.
