Chelsea's €388m spree tops R$2.2bn as 10 signings arrive

Chelsea have completed their tenth signing of the 2026/27 season with Jordan Henderson, taking the club’s summer outlay to about €388.9 million – more than R$2.2 billion – with just under a month left before the Premier League transfer window shuts.

The club’s recruitment drive follows the sale of Andrey Santos, Cucurella and Tyrique George, plus a loan of striker Garnacho to Aston Villa, which together generated roughly €132.2 million in income and created several gaps in the squad.

Xabi Alonso arrived at Chelsea to begin his tenure as head coach, signalling a strategic shift under the new manager as the club reshapes its playing staff.

The most expensive addition is midfielder Morgan Rogers, signed from Aston Villa for €138 million, the highest fee of this European summer and the fourth‑largest transfer in football history.

The ten Contratações also include Maxence Lacroix for €60.7 million, right‑back Marco Palestra for €57 million, winger Geovany Quenda for €50 million, midfielder Valentín Barco for €40 million, striker Emmanuel Emegha for €25 million, left‑back Denner for €10 million, veteran striker Danny Welbeck for €6 million, centre‑forward Dastan Satpaev for €2.5 million, and free‑transfer midfielder Jordan Henderson.

According to Transfermarkt, Chelsea have been the biggest spender in this summer window, outspending every other Premier League club on incoming players.

Despite the €132.2 million recouped from outgoing transfers, the club’s net balance remains negative by €256.6 million, reflecting the scale of its investment.

With the window set to close on 1 September, Chelsea still have less than a month to fine‑tune the squad or address the financial shortfall before the new season begins.
