Celtic gamble on gut instinct as Hogh becomes record signing

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Celtic have completed a club‑record signing by securing 25‑year‑old Danish striker Kasper Hogh from Norway’s Bodo/Glimt for a four‑year deal, paying a record fee and bringing a forward who scored 54 goals in 103 matches; he will debut on Monday against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

Many supporters had urged Celtic to sign Hogh. The club believes the Danish forward can help them return to the top tier of European competition, with the striker specifically tasked with qualifying for the Champions League.

Denmark international Kasper Hogh admitted he followed his intuition before signing the four‑year contract. “It’s about the gut feeling and the feeling here was good, so I’m happy I ended up here,” he said.

Hogh’s résumé includes a double in a 3‑1 win over Manchester City and a goal in a 2‑1 victory at Atletico Madrid. He also scored five goals in last season’s Champions League for Bodo/Glimt.

On his first visit he praised Celtic’s stadium, saying the pitch gave him goosebumps. After meeting the gaffer and the squad he added, “it feels like a good match,” and expressed eagerness to meet the fans.

For Hogh the transfer offers a chance to play for a big club and chase European glory. Celtic gain a proven goal‑scorer ready to work hard and be in the box.
