Breaking News TnA: CAF grants Category 2 Stadium Approval
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted Category 2 Stadium Approval to TnA Stadium after a comprehensive technical inspection, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Thursday. The decision, issued by the Confederation of African Football, marks a significant step for the venue and fulfills the Breaking News TnA headline.
The approval represents another milestone in Ghana's drive to improve football infrastructure and demonstrates the country's unwavering commitment to the latest CAF Stadium Regulations and international best practices. It underscores the role of the Ghana Association in aligning with continental standards.
The achievement results from the collective efforts of the Ghana Football Association, Medeama Sporting Club, the stadium management and all stakeholders who worked tirelessly to upgrade the facility. Their cooperation ensured the infrastructure met the required Category criteria.
With Category 2 certification, TnA Stadium is now eligible to host CAF Youth and Women’s National Team qualifying matches, as well as Preliminary Round fixtures of CAF Inter‑club competitions. This opens doors for both National and youth teams to play on a venue that complies with CAF standards.
CAF’s approval comes with operational conditions aimed at enhancing safety and comfort. One key requirement is the removal of a limited number of seats with obstructed views caused by structural roof‑support columns, ensuring every spectator enjoys an unobstructed view. The Technical Inspection Report also identified minor observations that must be corrected before the next CAF competition match.
The Ghana Football Association, together with Medeama Sporting Club and the stadium management, has committed to implementing all outstanding recommendations within agreed timelines. CAF will appoint a Stadium Infrastructure Inspector to monitor a designated match under live operational conditions, assessing infrastructure functionality, safety, crowd management, media operations and compliance with Regulations.
The GFA warmly welcomes CAF’s decision, describing it as a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s capacity to host international football at the highest level. The Association expresses sincere appreciation to CAF for its technical expertise and continuous support, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring football infrastructure across Ghana meets the highest continental and international standards.
