Blind fans get Gunther and Michiel’s vivid World Cup commentary

During the (half) final of the World Cup, visually impaired fans hear commentary from Gunther and Michiel rather than the usual voices of Filip Joos or Peter Vandenbempt. The duo even promise to describe moments such as “Dat Lukaku and Tielemans find each other ‘blindly’”, a line they say you will never hear from anyone else.

Their task goes beyond reporting the match on the WK, requiring them to paint a vivid picture of every on‑field detail for those who cannot see it.

For example, they note, “The goalkeeper has a mat: long hair at the back, shaved along the sides.”

In their narration they also detail the goalkeeper’s appearance, noting a long fringe at the back and shaved sides.
