UEFA confirms Barcelona’s UCL slot as Negreira dispute intensifies

🇪🇸 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

At the UEFA headquarters, officials unveiled the provisional Champions League list for the 2026‑27 season, confirming Barcelona’s inclusion while the Negreira case continues to loom over Spanish football. The decision arrives as the FIFA World Cup 2026 enters its final phase of the global spectacle.

UEFA’s provisional list, reported by SPORT, named Barcelona among the clubs qualified for next season’s Champions League (UCL). The list also includes other European powerhouses, though the full roster remains pending final approval.

Real Madrid submitted a dossier to UEFA requesting Barcelona’s exclusion from the European tournament. The request specifically targeted the Catalan club’s participation in the Champions League.

Miguel Galan, president of CENAFE, described the development as a blow to Real Madrid’s efforts. He argued that Barcelona’s presence on the list shows the club cannot be excluded while the Negreira affair is pending.

Galan called Real Madrid’s documentation “useless”, emphasizing that any criminal liability lies with the Spanish courts. He noted the principle of presumption of innocence and that alleged events may be time‑barred under Spanish law.

UEFA cautioned that the provisional list does not constitute a final decision on club participation. The ultimate outcome will remain open pending further review.
