Arsenal’s €40m gamble on Tzolis aims to fill Trossard void
Arsenal have agreed a €40 million fee with Club Brugge for 24‑year‑old Greek forward Christos Tzolis, targeting him as the primary solution to replace departing winger Leandro Trossard after his recent transfer to Turkish side Besiktas and to bolster the Gunners’ attack ahead of the new season.
The €40 million agreement was confirmed by The Athletic, which detailed that the Gunners have secured the deal with Club Brugge for the 24‑year‑old. Arsenal believe the investment will fill the void left by Trossard.
Scouts praised Tzolis for his pace, work rate and versatility across the frontline. The Gunners consider these attributes essential for the high‑pressing style they employ.
Arsenal spend €40m on Premier League hopeful Christos Tzolis
English fans will recall the Greece international’s three‑year spell at Norwich City, where he scored three goals in 30 appearances. Though his impact was modest, the Premier League experience is valued by Arsenal. Since joining Club Brugge in 2024, Tzolis has made 108 appearances, contributing 43 goals and 45 assists. He played an instrumental role in Brugge’s league title win last season, recording 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 games. Arsenal’s interest in Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers remains active and will not be affected by the signing of Tzolis. The club also inquired about 21‑year‑old Kenan Yildiz, but Juventus informed them the player was not for sale, prompting the Gunners to focus on alternatives such as Tzolis. Nevertheless, Tzolis may face limited minutes if Arsenal also secure Morgan Rogers, as both players compete for similar attacking positions. Squad depth will be a key factor in the upcoming campaign for the Gunners.
