Arsenal eyes Pascal De Maesschalck as strategic hire

🇬🇧

Arsenal is reportedly in talks with Pascal De Maesschalck, the current Sporting Director at Strasbourg, as part of its preparation for the future. The former AS Monaco and Club Brugge executive was also linked to RSC Anderlecht a few months ago.

The Athletic says Arsenal has already approached De Maesschalck and that a conversation has taken place between him and the Gunners. The report leaves open how serious the club of Trossard and co is about securing his services.

De Maesschalck's name surfaced in connection with RSC Anderlecht earlier this year, but the Belgian club ultimately appointed Antoine Sibierski as its sporting boss. This development highlights the competition for his expertise.

During his tenure at Club Brugge, De Maesschalck helped the Belgian side evolve into a club capable of competing in European tournaments. His experience in that transformation is cited as a key asset.

At present, De Maesschalck holds the Sporting Director role at Strasbourg, a position he could abandon if Arsenal finalises a deal. The potential move would see him transition from a French club to a top English side.

Arsenal's broader strategy involves securing a "new strong man" to bolster its long‑term ambitions. The club's interest in De Maesschalck reflects a desire to tap his multi‑club experience.
