Arsenal and Brugge near Belgian record with Tzolis deal in Belgium

Arsenal need a direct‑wing replacement after Leandro Trossard’s departure to Besiktas, and the Greek winger Christos Tzolis has emerged as the prime target. Club Brugge have reached an agreement with Arsenal for the 40 million‑euro transfer, a fee that would set a new Belgian league record.

Club Brugge and Arsenal have confirmed an accord for the transfer of former FC Twente player Christos Tzolis. The Athletic the Greek winger will move to the English champions for €40 million.

The €40 million price tag would become the highest outgoing transfer in the Jupiler Pro League, surpassing the previous record of €37.5 million paid for Charles de Ketelaere’s move to AC Milan.

Tzolis has been linked with Arsenal for a long time and personally reached an agreement with the London club, turning down offers from other sides to focus on the move.

In London he is expected to succeed Trossard, who left for Besiktas, providing Arsenal with a proven goal‑scorer and creator on the wing.

The transfer would also be a record for Club Brugge, whose previous highest sale was de Ketelaere’s €37.5 million deal.

Last season Tzolis was one of the Jupiler Pro League’s standout performers, delivering 17 goals and 23 assists in 36 competitive matches and helping Club Brugge secure the league title.

His career includes spells at Norwich City, Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Twente, where a 2022 loan saw him score three times in fifteen appearances.

The deal still requires final paperwork, but with both clubs already in agreement the transfer is expected to be completed shortly, pending the usual administrative steps.
