Ajax aims for €75m counteroffer as PSG bid for Godts

Ajax will not accept Paris Saint‑Germain’s opening bid for 21‑year‑old forward Mika Godts and is prepared to table a counteroffer that could reach €75 million, according to club watcher Mike Verweij. The Dutch side, often referred to as the Amsterdammers, insists the first offer from Paris falls short of its valuation.

Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG’s initial proposal stood at €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses. The figure was disclosed during a podcast hosted by De , where Verweij confirmed the numbers and added that the club’s sources were reliable.

Verweij said Ajax will definitely reject that opening bid and will respond with a much higher figure, possibly €75 million. He explained that the club expects a “Saibarian price” for Godot, reflecting the market for comparable talents.

Godts is currently under a three‑year contract with Ajax, a detail Verweij highlighted when assessing the club’s price expectations. The contract length gives Ajax leverage, and the club believes the €40 million offer undervalues the player.

Verweij praised Godts’ recent performances, stating that if he remains in Amsterdam he will become the best player in the Eredivisie by a wide margin. He contrasted Godts with the former PSV star who already featured on a higher stage in the Champions League and the World Cup.

Jordi Cruijff, Ajax’s sporting director, is expected to ask between €65 million and €70 million for Godts. Verweij added that a €75 million counteroffer could ultimately settle around €55 million to €60 million, a price Ajax deems acceptable.
