€30m loan could lock Galatasaray’s midfield future with Ugochukwu

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

A €30m loan deal is on the brink of completion for Burnley Lesley Ugochukwu, the 22‑year‑old French midfielder, who would join Galatasaray SK in Istanbul on loan. The agreement includes an option to buy that becomes mandatory if certain performance conditions are met, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Burnley FC have accepted the arrangement even though Ugochukwu’s contract runs until 2030, signalling the club’s readiness to cash in. The Turkish side are drawn by his solid season in Lancashire, where he was a regular starter for the Clarets’.

Ugochukwu arrived at Burnley from Chelsea for €28m last summer, adding to his pedigree. His French training at the Stade Rennais academy complements his English Premier League experience.

He featured in 29 of the Clarets’ 38 league games, contributing three goals and two assists. Although his performances could not prevent Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, they demonstrated his ability at the highest level.

The loan includes a clause that will trigger a mandatory purchase if specific performance targets are met. This provision ensures Galatasaray’s investment becomes permanent under defined conditions.

For Galatasaray, the acquisition adds depth to their midfield as they prepare for upcoming domestic and European campaigns in Istanbul. For Burnley, the deal offers a potential €30m inflow while allowing Ugochukwu to continue his development abroad, and the report was signed by Léo Aschi.
