Shooting Stars part ways with Aweroro and staff after NPFL season

In the bustling city of Ibadan, the doors of Shooting Stars’ training complex swung open on Tuesday evening as the club announced the immediate departure of head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, team manager Tammy Tamuno and assistant coach Shakiru Lawal, ending their contracts by mutual agreement after the NPFL season.

The Nigeria Premier Football League side confirmed that the three staff members had left the club by mutual agreement, with their contracts terminated with immediate effect. The announcement was posted on the club’s official website.

A club statement read: “We have reached a mutual agreement with Head Coach Nurudeen Aweroro, Team Manager Tammy Tamuno and Assistant Coach Shakiru Lawal to bring their respective contracts with the Club to an end, with immediate effect.” The statement emphasized the consensual nature of the decision.

The decision followed discussions between the club and the three staff members, with both sides agreeing to part ways amicably. Shooting Stars thanked them for their commitment, professionalism and contributions during their time at the Oluyole Warriors.

The club highlighted that under their guidance the team secured a third‑place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season and earned a continental competition ticket. “We thank them immensely for their service and wish them all the very best in their future endeavours and continued success in their careers,” the statement added.

In the interim, the remaining assistant coaches have been instructed to manage the technical department’s affairs until a permanent head coach is appointed and announced. Further updates will be communicated in due course.

Nurudeen Aweroro had taken charge ahead of the previous campaign and steered the Oluyole Warriors to that third‑place finish in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
