Beerschot coach hails progress after dominant win over Wilrijk

🇧🇪

Beerschot opened their season with a convincing 4‑1 victory in their first training match, travelling to the neighbouring club Wilrijk where they dominated the friendly. Coach Mo Messoudi praised the performance, noting the team is already a lot further than a year ago.

The match took place at Wilrijk’s home ground, confirming the fixture as an away test for Beerschot. It marked the first training match of the new campaign for Beerschot.

Beerschot’s attack produced four goals, demonstrating a sharp offensive edge. Wilrijk’s lone goal was insufficient to challenge the visitors’ control.

After the final whistle, coach Mo Messoudi said, “If I look at the core, we are already a lot further than a year ago.” Messoudi highlighted the team’s progress as the key takeaway from the encounter.

The result provides a positive benchmark as Beerschot prepares for the competitive season ahead. Wilrijk, as the host, will look to address the defensive lapses exposed by the four‑goal concession.

The friendly formed part of Beerschot’s pre‑season programme, aimed at building cohesion ahead of league fixtures. Wilrijk, also preparing for the upcoming season, used the match to test their own squad depth.

Looking forward, Beerschot will aim to translate the attacking display into consistent performances in the regular campaign. Messoudi’s remarks suggest the coaching staff believes the squad is on an upward trajectory.
