Manchester United sign Éderson for £35m as Carrick’s first move
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Éderson for an initial €40.5m (£35m). Éderson will be the first signing of Michael Carrick’s tenure as permanent manager. Personal terms include a contract running until 2030.
Carrick and director of football Jason Wilcox identified the 26‑year‑old as a replacement for Casemiro. Casemiro left United after his contract expired. The club announced the need for a midfield replacement in April.
United also have Tchouaméni and Wharton listed among other targets. Those names were mentioned in the same report. The club continues to explore options.
The €40.5m fee reflects United’s willingness to invest in midfield talent. Atalanta will receive the initial payment. The deal is structured as an initial amount.
The signing marks the start of Carrick’s transfer activity as permanent manager. United aim to rebuild the squad under his guidance. The contract runs until 2030.
