Manchester City secures future star with €25m move
Mathys Detourbet, 19, has transferred from ESTAC Troyes to Manchester City, with the Premier League club confirming the move. L’Équipe reports the fee is around €25m, and the French playmaker is set for an immediate loan to AS Monaco.
Detourbet was a key pillar of the ESTAC Troyes side that secured promotion back to Ligue 1. In 27 games across all competitions for Troyes, he recorded four goals and seven assists.
The playmaker progressed through Troyes' youth system before attracting significant interest from other clubs. ESTAC Troyes announced the transfer, confirming the club's role in the deal.
Manchester City, part of the City Group, exercised control over the situation and opted to sign the Frenchman. The length of Detourbet's contract at the Etihad Stadium has not been disclosed.
After signing, Detourbet is expected to join AS Monaco on a loan arrangement. L’Équipe understands the loan includes a purchase option for Monaco.
The move provides Detourbet with a platform to develop in Ligue 1 while remaining linked to Manchester City. The transfer was reported by GFFN journalist Luke Entwistle.
