Crystal Palace secured their first European trophy by beating Rayo Vallecano 1‑0 in the Conference League final. The match was played at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. The victory marked the English club’s inaugural appearance in a European final.

Both clubs were making their debut in a European final, creating a festive atmosphere among the 40,000 spectators at the venue. Crystal Palace entered the match as the 15th‑placed Premier League side, while Rayo Vallecano were eighth in La Liga. The first half produced few clear chances.

Adam Wharton delivered a low cross that Tyrick Mitchell met with a header, which missed the target. Wharton’s subsequent shot was saved by keeper Augusto Batalla, and the rebound fell to Jean‑Philippe Mateta, who finished past Batalla for the opening goal. The goal arrived in stoppage time of the first half.

Yéremi Pino’s free kick struck both posts before the ball rebounded off a Rayo defender and hit the third post. Later, a second Mateta effort was denied by a sharp save from Batalla. Rayo Vallecano failed to convert any further chances.

Coach Iñigo Pérez urged his side to press for an equaliser, but Rayo could not find a breakthrough. The English supporters’ chants grew louder as the match progressed. Oliver Glasner, who announced his departure before the game, oversaw his final match for Palace.

The Conference League title became Palace’s third major trophy in twelve months, following last season’s FA Cup and English Super Cup wins. These three trophies constitute the only major honours in the club’s history. The triumph adds a European accolade to Palace’s recent domestic successes.
