Anthony Gordon rushes Barcelona signing ahead of World Cup

Anthony Gordon is pushing to finalize his transfer to FC Barcelona before the World Cup. He has been called up by England manager Thomas Tuchel for the tournament.

England reached the Euro 2024 final and lost to Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The final took place on 14 July.

Gordon did not appear in the final. He logged only four minutes in the entire Euro 2024, all in extra time of the group match against Slovenia. His brief appearance earned praise for his effort to make an impact.

After England's defeat, Gordon embraced teammates Bukayo Saka, John Stones and Luke Shaw. He learned he will share a dressing room with Spain's Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo at Barcelona.

Gordon met former England striker Gary Lineker. Lineker gave him a forward‑looking message that Gordon described as a prophecy.

Gordon hopes to play a larger role at the World Cup than he did at Euro 2024. The imminent Barcelona signing should allow him to focus on that goal.
