Moussa N'Diaye returns to Anderlecht As Schalke seek loan
Moussa N'Diaye will rejoin Sporting Anderlecht after his loan at Schalke 04 ends on 30 June 2026, but the German club does not plan to activate the purchase option and is instead pushing for a new loan with a mandatory buy‑out clause.
He arrived at Anderlecht in the summer of 2022 from FC Barcelona’s reserve team, and has amassed 102 official appearances for the Belgian side, scoring two goals and providing six assists. His contributions established him as a regular starter during his time in Brussels.
At the start of the current season his playing time was limited, featuring in only 47 % of the possible minutes between August 2025 and January 2026. The reduced minutes prompted the club to arrange a loan move for the 24‑year‑old left‑back.
During his spell at Schalke 04 he featured in every league match from early February to mid‑May, making fourteen appearances, thirteen of them as a starter. The consistent starts gave him a sense of importance in the Ruhr side’s defence.
His loan runs until 30 June 2026, after which he is scheduled to return to Anderlecht, but Schalke will not exercise the purchase option, according to the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, citing financial constraints. The club’s budget limits prevent a permanent transfer at this time.
Schalke, however, wishes to secure another loan for N'Diaye that includes a compulsory purchase clause, a proposal that Anderlecht finds unappealing. Anderlecht’s new sporting director Antoine Sibierski had preferred a definitive sale this summer rather than a loan‑to‑buy arrangement.
Negotiations between the two clubs continue, with Anderlecht aware that Schalke still wants the defender despite not fitting the new sporting director’s plans. A resolution may emerge if another club offers a direct purchase for the player.
