Club Brugge's secret deal puts Genk's winger under fire

Noah Adedeji‑Sternberg has reached a personal agreement with Club Brugge to join the champions this summer, Genk’s sporting director Dimitri De Condé says the club has not been contacted about the move, even though the 21‑year‑old Belgian youth international is still in talks on a contract extension.

The agreement was communicated to De Condé by Adedeji‑Sternberg’s entourage, delivering a clear message that the player wants to leave for Club Brugge at any cost this summer. The Belgian youth international has expressed a strong desire to make the switch, despite Genk’s ongoing negotiations.

Club Brugge, however, has not initiated any contact with KRC Genk regarding a possible transfer. Genk was still in active discussions with the 21‑year‑old winger about extending his contract.

The lack of communication has sparked internal frustration within Genk’s hierarchy. The strained situation puts the relationship between the player and the club under significant pressure.

Medical examinations are scheduled for Monday at Genk’s facilities. It remains unclear whether Adedeji‑Sternberg will attend, and reports suggest his standing in the squad may be in doubt.

Adedeji‑Sternberg arrived at the Cegeka Arena in the summer of 2024, when Genk paid roughly one million euros to Borussia Mönchengladbach for his services. Since then he has featured in 79 matches for Genk, contributing six goals and six assists.

Transfermarkt currently values the winger at approximately four million euros. His market valuation reflects the interest generated by the ongoing transfer dispute.
