Yan Diomande's world goal propels Real Madrid to Champions victory
Real Madrid secured a comfortable victory in the Champions League on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu, where they defeated RB Leipzig 4-1. Yan Diomande scored a spectacular world goal, while Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler and Kylian Mbappé also got on the scoresheet.
Opening phase and early chances
The opening minutes offered little spectacle, but both Arda Güler and Kylian Mbappé tried to create danger early on. A shot from Romulo Cardoso was denied by Thibaut Courtois with a formidable save. Leipzig had the best chance, but the ball remained out of reach.
First half and crucial opening
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, after an attempt by Arda Güler was blocked by goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt. The goal gave Real Madrid a lead just before halftime. The French kept the pressure and maintained the advantage.
Second half and Diomande's impact
After the break, José Mourinho quickly looked for a second goal. Kylian Mbappé headed the ball into the net, after which Arda Güler scored the 2-0 from close range. In the 70th minute, Yan Diomande came onto the field for Vinícius Júnior.

Diomande provided a crucial assist when he supplied Mbappé with the ball in the 83rd minute, after which the French attacker scored the third goal for the Merengues. Shortly thereafter, in the 87th minute, Diomande himself struck a beautiful long‑range volley into the left top corner, one of the evening's finest strikes.
The crowd roared: DIOMANDE! The goal came after a cross from Brahim Díaz, with the Ivorian once again showcasing his former club. His right‑footed shot found the top corner and confirmed Real Madrid's dominant tone.
Leipzig reduced the deficit to 4-3 with a goal from Tidiam Gomis in the 85th minute, stemming from a pass by Christoph Baumgartner. Prior to that action, Romulo Cardoso and Christopher Nkunku had created several chances, but Thibaut Courtois remained impeccable.
