Wolves' painful parting with loan striker Arokodare sparks fan fury

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball ·

Wolverhampton Wanderers announced today at 21:28 that they are parting ways with Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, who will join Ajax on loan, a move the Premier League‑relegated club appears far from mournful about after a turbulent spell and a training incident that forced the session to be called off.

Reports surfaced last week that Arokodare was involved in a training incident, prompting the session to be abandoned. The club confirmed the disruption on its official website.

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto reportedly asked the striker to stop training with the first team. Arokodare refused, which escalated the situation.

Following the episode, Arokodare issued a statement denying the circulating rumors. He insisted the reports were unfounded.

The 25‑year‑old arrived from Genk in September and has featured in 38 matches for the club, scoring six goals in the gold‑yellow shirt. Three of those strikes came in the Premier League, the latest in March against Brentford.

He appeared on the final matchday of last season but started only one of the last ten games. Now he joins Ajax, which finished fifth in the Eredivisie last season and will compete in the Conference League if it advances through the playoffs.

Wolves supporters expressed disbelief on social media, with one fan writing “pure hatred” on X. The post has already been viewed close to 900,000 times.

Ajax’s upcoming campaign in the Conference League will provide Arokodare with a new platform to revive his form. The Dutch side hopes his experience will aid their push for European qualification.
