Windass crowns Carrow Road his top EFL Championship away ground
Wrexham forward Josh Windass has declared Norwich City’s Carrow Road his favourite EFL Championship away venue, citing a perfect scoring record there. The 32‑year‑old, who netted four times in four trips, will face the Canaries again in December, hoping to extend his run.
In the 2025/26 season Windass contributed 16 goals and five assists from 41 Championship appearances, helping Wrexham finish seventh and miss the play‑offs by a narrow margin. The club will aim for another top‑eight finish as the play‑offs expand to include two extra teams.
Windass arrives at the Welsh outfit with extensive EFL experience, having previously played for Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan Athletic and Accrington Stanley in League Two. His familiarity with the league’s demands makes him a key figure for Phil Parkinson’s side.
“Norwich, because I always score there,” the striker said via the EFL on Instagram. His record at Carrow Road stands at four goals and one assist from four away matches, underscoring his confidence in the venue.
His first visit to the Norfolk side came in 2018 with Wigan, a 1‑0 defeat in which he failed to score. He later scored a consolation goal for Sheffield Wednesday in a 2‑1 loss, then added a goal and an assist in a 3‑2 win in 2025. In his debut appearance for Wrexham at Carrow Road, he netted a brace to secure a 3‑2 victory.
December clash at Carrow Road
Wrexham will travel to Carrow Road in the first week of December for their next meeting with Norwich City. Parkinson will be eager to see whether Windass can repeat his past success on the road.
Ahead of the new campaign, Wrexham have already secured three signings – goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, defender Danny Imray and midfielder Ben Whiteman – ahead of their opening weekend trip to Cardiff City on 17 August.
