West Ham sack Nuno, agree Parker deal

West Ham United have dismissed Nuno Espírito Santo as first‑team head coach after a troubled start to the 2026‑27 Championship campaign. The club have also reached an agreement with former player Scott Parker to become the new manager, pending the signing of his contract.
Dismissal of Nuno Espírito Santo
The decision came after thirteen league matches in which Los Hammers failed to remain in the automatic promotion places. During that spell the side suffered consecutive home defeats, 3‑2 to Southampton and 3‑1 to West Bromwich Albion. Those results left West Ham eighth in the Championship, with six wins from thirteen games and four points adrift of the promotion spots.
The dismissal also saw assistants Rui Pedro Silva and Rui Barbosa leave their posts. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville were named to oversee preparations for the upcoming clash with Cardiff City.
Scott Parker appointed as new manager
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the terms of Parker’s deal with the Hammers are already finalised, awaiting only formal signature.
West Ham in advanced talks to appoint Scott Parker
The 46‑year‑old former England international played for West Ham between 2007 and 2011, making 129 appearances and being voted the club’s Player of the Year on three occasions.
As a manager he has guided Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley each to promotion into the Premier League.
Although the club have not yet announced Parker officially, they expect him to take charge with the primary aim of regaining ground in the Championship and securing a return to the Premier League.
West Ham also broke silence about midfielder Edson Álvarez and his future at the London side.
