West Ham’s push for Sunderland’s Adingra and Isidor before September
With the summer transfer window set to close on 1 September, West Ham United are reportedly targeting Sunderland’s forward Simon Adingra and striker Wilson Isidor, hoping to strengthen their attack for the upcoming Championship season. The London club sees the pair as key additions as they prepare for life in the second tier.
West Ham United have entered negotiations for both Adingra and Isidor, yet no transfer fee has been disclosed. The Hammers aim to secure the players before the market shuts on the September deadline, underscoring the urgency of the deal.
The Hammers have already sold Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes following relegation, generating significant cash and leaving vacancies on the left wing and in attack that need to be filled. Those departures created space for new signings to replace the departed talent.
West Ham fan pundit Ryan Horn said, “Honestly, I’m very excited,” adding that the Sunderland duo would be a “brilliant replacement” for Summerville and Callum Wilson and would represent an upgrade in quality. His comment highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the potential arrivals.
Horn also noted that the club is being “ambitious, rather than going for the free agents,” emphasizing that the targeted signings send a strong message about West Ham’s transfer strategy. The approach signals a shift from relying on free‑agent deals.
So far this summer West Ham’s activity has focused on selling star players, and the club has yet to add a major first‑team signing, but it expects to move before the market shuts on 1 September. The timing aligns with the club’s plan to rebuild the squad.
Adingra brings Premier League experience and high potential, while Isidor has a proven Championship record, having helped Sunderland win promotion through the play‑offs in 2025. Their differing backgrounds complement the Hammers’ needs.
If the deals materialise, West Ham could strengthen their attacking options for a swift return to the Premier League, while Sunderland would lose two key forwards, potentially weakening their squad depth. The moves could reshape both clubs’ fortunes.
Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is also linked with a move to the London Stadium, and West Ham aim to complete signings before their opening Championship fixture against Burnley on 16 August. The club is targeting a full squad ahead of the season opener.
