Vincent Kompany in burnout crisis, Felice Mazzù lifts the veil

In the heart of Bayern Munich's training ground, Vincent Kompany suddenly showed a malaise, an incident that highlighted the terribly energy‑draining nature of the coaching profession, a phenomenon illustrated by the figure 625 mentioned in the report.
Felice Mazzù also faces it and tackles it without taboo. Saying stop is not easy in this profession, but it remains essential.
Felice Mazzù succeeded Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht and is now at Eupen. He is among those many coaches who do not count their hours to help their team perform.
The weight of work
« We spend hours preparing matches, analyzing matches. And so, we eat later, we eat less well. We must nevertheless try to do everything to have a good lifestyle », explains Felice Mazzù to RTBF. He notes that sleep cycles are also disrupted, admitting he does not want to say he spends nights without sleeping and being uncertain about Vincent's situation, but asserting that the number of hours devoted to preparation and analysis before and after matches as well as to planning training weeks is quite substantial.
Many will answer that it is passion that drives them, that when you love it you don't count, and that the responsibilities that fall on them are great. However, a salary above normal should not justify this overwork.
« These salaries that are more or less high do not justify the fact that one must die earlier or have a different life in terms of hygiene, family, stress and mental health », concludes Felice Mazzù. « Salary does not justify a person being able to live longer ».
