Villarreal count on Saliba's return vs champion PSG in Champions League

Under the lights of Villarreal's stadium, the supporters are waiting for the kickoff of tonight's match. The defending champion, Paris Saint‑Germain, travel to Spain to face Villarreal in the Champions League. The yellow submarine will be able to count on the return of Nathan Saliba, former of the Pro League and Anderlecht.

Key returns and absences

Arriving from Anderlecht at the very end of the transfer window, Saliba has already established himself as indispensable for Villarreal. His intensity in the heart of the game made Vinicius lose his head during the match against Real Madrid. Coach Inigo Pérez was disappointed when the Canadian suffered a muscle injury a few weeks ago. This injury has kept him out of the last four Liga matches.

Saliba, however, resumed collective training yesterday. According to the newspaper L’Équipe, he should be in the starting lineup tonight. Another former Pro League player, Georges Mikautadze, will also be present at kickoff. The former Seraing striker, who scored fifteen goals last season, has been relegated to the bench in recent weeks.

Recent injuries should allow him to return to the eleven. Ilias Akhomach, Alassane Diatta, Juan Foyth and Gerard Moreno are unavailable for this match. Mikautadze said in a press conference that Paris Saint‑Germain was “the biggest club in the world, the one everyone watches”.
