Vente vows to turn unlucky start into breakthrough at Heerenveen
Dylan Vente, the 27‑year‑old striker for SC Heerenveen, admitted yesterday that his inaugural season with the Friezen fell short of expectations and that he is determined to prove his worth in the 2026/2027 campaign, having already netted nine goals for the club.
In the first friendly of the pre‑season, Heerenveen overwhelmed their opponents 11‑0, with Vente converting the final penalty to complete the tally. He also struck the post twice during the match, a reminder of the fine margins he wishes to avoid in competitive play.
Reflecting on that encounter, Vente told the club’s official channels, “It was a bit unlucky.” He added, “Both attempts were not even badly struck. But I’d rather have them hit the post now than in the competition.”
Vente described his first season as “erratic,” noting good moments were offset by poorer ones. He cited injuries and a passport issue that forced him to miss eight matches, saying more playing time would have been preferable.
Last campaign, the striker featured in 34 matches for the Friezen, contributing three assists. His nine goals that season highlighted his attacking presence despite the overall inconsistency.
The 27‑year‑old returned to the Netherlands last year, sealing his departure from Hibernian after a loan spell at PEC Zwolle. Earlier in his career he also turned out for Feyenoord, RKC Waalwijk and Roda JC.
Vente insists the upcoming 2026/2027 season will be his chance to showcase his full potential. He hopes to translate his pre‑season form into a consistent league performance for SC Heerenveen.
