Venezia sack Giovanni Stroppa after sixth Serie A loss
Venezia announced on Tuesday the dismissal of Giovanni Stroppa after the club suffered its sixth consecutive defeat in the Serie A, a run that left them without a point from six matches. The decision came following a 3‑1 loss to Atalanta in Bergamo during the sixth round of the Italian championship.
Club looks to replace Stroppa
The board, led by businesswoman Francesca Bodie, issued a statement thanking Stroppa and his staff for their hard work, professionalism and dedication. They added that a replacement is being sought, with Davide Nicola emerging as the favourite to take charge for the next fixture. Italian media report that Nicola would sign a contract lasting until the end of the season.
Stroppa had recently extended his contract to 2029, having guided Venezia to promotion and a second‑division title last season. Despite that success, the club’s frustrating start in the top flight has prompted the change.
Venezia dismiss Stroppa as six‑game losing run ends hopes
Venezia’s poor start follows an investment of €45 million in new signings. The most expensive acquisition, striker Akor Adams, has contributed only one goal in just under 500 minutes of play.
The Arancioneroverdi will now regroup ahead of their upcoming Serie A clash, hoping the new appointment can halt the slide and secure their first point.
