Urgency at Lille and Galatasaray: must score before the final phase
At Lille's stadium, under a light rain, fans watch as Lille and Galatasaray prepare for an urgent showdown, forced to pick up points after two rounds without wins; Victor Osimhen already has six goals this season, although none in the Champions League.
Results that force a push for points
According to journalist Ahmad Mora Solé, the French lost 2‑3 to Betis and 0‑3 to Arsenal, while the Turks were beaten 1‑3 by Sporting CP and 1‑4 by Barça, leaving both teams without points and with their league position at risk.
“There are still 18 points up for grabs,” recalled Lille coach Davide Ancelotti, who will continue without Ayase Ueda, sidelined with a foot injury, nor with the suspended Ethan Mbappé.
Lille will line up Ozer; Goffi, Ngoy and Alexsandro; Perraud; André and Bentaleb; Bakwa, Mukau and Haraldsson; and Olivier Giroud, who turned 40 last month.
GALATASARAY, under Okan Buruk, will field Cakir; Sallai, Davinson Sánchez, Bardakci and Elmali; Lemina and Torreira; Akgun, Batrakov and Yilmaz; and Victor Osimhen up front, with Rade Obrenovic (Slovenia) as referee.
The match will mark Osimhen's return to Lille, the club where he scored 18 goals in the 2019/20 season; meanwhile, Rafa Leão, also a former Lille player and now with Milan, is sidelined with injury. In other news, Fàbregas said: “United in crisis? A big lie,” and Marc Canosa reported that Kompany is not appearing before the press and his future at Arsenal is in doubt.
