United and Roma weigh Felix Nmecha as Dortmund face winter exit risk
BVB News Gerüchte United and Roma are circling Felix Nmecha, while Verliert Borussia Dortmund worries about a possible winter departure of the national team midfielder.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed United’s interest, stating, "Es stimmt, dass Manchester United an Felix Nmecha interessiert ist" and adding that any move depends on the Red Devils’ unsettled coaching situation.
Manchester United’s current head coach Michael Carrick has been criticised after a weak start to the season, and rumours suggest former Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann could replace him.
Other clubs join the chase
Besides United, Liverpool and Newcastle United have been linked with the 26‑year‑old, while Di Marzio also quoted AS Roma: "Die AS Roma schätzt ihn sehr, und die AS Roma versucht, im Januar einen Spieler für die Offensive zu verpflichten."
Both United and the club in Rom are probing the winter market, but Dortmund has not indicated willingness to sell before the season’s second half.
Contract, fee and Dortmund’s stance
Coach Niko Kovac, who signed Nmecha to a contract running until 2030, describes the midfielder as a central building block for his side.
The deal reportedly contains a mega‑release clause, and a summer exit would command around €80 million, far above the €30 million Dortmund paid when they signed him from VfL Wolfsburg in 2023.
So far this campaign Nmecha has made eleven appearances across all competitions and found the net twice.
Kovac, now hoping to lift Dortmund to a title, said before the Saturday home game against Eintracht Frankfurt that the club must work hard and invest fully to reach higher goals.
At the moment Dortmund sit second in the Bundesliga on 14 points, having failed to turn two recent draws into wins.
Off the pitch, Dortmund and rivals Schalke 04 have launched a joint stem‑cell donation campaign, urging fans to register with the German donor database.
Maximilian Beier has already signed up as a potential donor, adding a personal touch to the partnership.
In a separate update, Kovac confirmed midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas will miss the Frankfurt match after sustaining an ankle ligament injury during a brief appearance against Union Berlin.
