UEFA sanctions Bayern for inappropriate message in the Champions League
UEFA has imposed a €45,000 fine on Bayern Munich after the club broadcast a message deemed inappropriate during its first Champions League match, played on September 10 against Bodo Glimt at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
Details of the sanction
According to the ruling, the violation is classified under article 16 of UEFA's Disciplinary Code, which prohibits any content that is not of European nature in sporting events. The UEFA statement, collected by journalist Ramón Fuentes in Madrid, is part of a set of sanctions announced for all its club competitions, including the final qualifying rounds and the starts of the Champions League and the Europa League.
The match ended with a dominant Bavarian 5‑0 victory, with goals from Musiala, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and a brace from Olise. Although Bodo Glimt's defeat was severe, the sanction is directed solely at the broadcast message, not at the sporting result.
For Bayern, the fine is symbolic but underscores the European disciplinary body's intention to punish any breach of its communication rules.
