UEFA celebrates Torreense's historic win in the Europa League

Last Thursday, Torreense, a Portuguese Segunda Liga team, beat Lillestrøm 2‑1 away, marking the first victory by a second‑division club in the Europa League group stage, the main highlight of the weekly roundup published by UEFA.

Álex Alfaro opened the scoring by heading the visitors' first European goal in history. Shortly after, Manu Pozo doubled the lead with a masterfully controlled strike.

Thomas Olsen of Lillestrøm reduced the deficit by scoring a goal. Despite Nuha Jatta's dismissal in the final minutes, Torreense held onto the result.

The Europa League group stage began with eighteen matches over two nights. Alongside Torreense, Bournemouth celebrated a historic win in its European debut.
