Tuchel praises England after convincing return to victory

In the Prague stadium the English national team stood on the pitch again after a disappointing opening defeat to Spain. Thomas Tuchel saw the reaction of his Three Lions as a necessary answer when England won the match 2-0 against the Czechs.

Response after defeat to Spain

After the early setback in the Nations League the Three Lions did not let the opportunity slip and asserted themselves convincingly. The 2-0 victory was the result of a controlled performance that the team markedly improved after the first game.

"In the second half we took a step forward," Tuchel said after the match. After the break England managed to extend the lead and control the game, which Tuchel described as a decisive moment.

Tuchel's praise for the performance after the break

The coach emphasized that England played more dynamically and with greater determination. At the same time the team kept the intensity high and presented themselves professionally, so the result was a well-deserved victory.

Anthony Gordon was particularly highlighted, who after a precise cross from Trent Alexander‑Arnold headed the ball into the lead – his third goal in the last three internationals. Tuchel praised the action and said there was hardly anything to improve.

Trent Alexander‑Arnold, back in the starting XI for the first time since June 2025, set up the 1-0 and received special praise for his quality on crosses. Harry Kane eventually sealed the final score, his 87th goal for England ensured the 2-0 and marked the first clean sheet since seven games.

After the defeat to Spain England have now collected three important points. Next up in the Nations League is Croatia, which after a loss on Tuesday now has to hope for a reaction from the English world champions.
