Tripic's planned Oktoberfest in Stavanger makes Olise turn red

While Bayern Munich achieved a historic draw in the Champions League match against the Norwegian newcomer Viking Stavanger, captain Zlatko Tripic celebrated the red card of his opponent Michael Olise – an incident that had been planned for a long time.

Planned Oktoberfest in Stavanger

The evening before was dominated by an “Oktoberfest in Stavanger” that, according to Tripic, had been organized “for a long time.” In his role as “King of Stavanger” he explained that the provocations and small teasing were deliberately staged to get the Bayern player sent off.

The Dismissal and the Reaction

In the 74th minute Michael Olise received the yellow‑red card after, after being provoked for a long time by Tripic, he threw the ball into his face. Tripic commented on the incident to the Norwegian broadcaster TV2, saying: “It’s great,” and emphasized that a player who might one day win the Ballon d’Or would be upset about a boy from Oftebro and Lyngdal.

Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s coach, called Olise’s action “overly stupid.” Harry Kane added: “You have to be smart in those moments, control the emotions. But it’s football, it’s life. Sometimes you make mistakes.”

Reactions from Munich

Max Eberl, sporting director of FC Bayern, described Tripic as a “dirty sack who wanted to win the game” and admitted that Bayern allowed themselves to be provoked. He added: “Then you can’t win here.”

After the 3‑3 (2‑0) final score, Tripic felt like a big winner because he had taken Olise out of the game. He said: “I feel like I have won this duel with him.”

Media and Outlook

Norwegian media such as Dagbladet and NRK reported enthusiastically about the “Oktoberfest in Stavanger” and described the event as a “hilarious way to lose one’s head.” Aftenblad wrote that a bigger favourite had never been so heavily criticised in the Lyse Arena.

Viking Stavanger, which had previously lost 1‑3 to VfB Stuttgart, thus earned its first point in the top tier. On the second matchday further duels between German and Norwegian clubs are scheduled, with Viking and Bodø/Glimt enjoying home advantage on artificial turf. The incident was discussed on 13 Oct 2026 at 23:19 on the Sportschau program “Bayern miss victory – the audio highlights.”
